The magnolia's popularity has been well known for decades, because it gives a garden a special look with its unique beauty. Its exceptional virtue is that it blooms in spring, before the leaves appear. It can reach a height of up to 3-4 m and a width of 3-4 m. It blooms in April-May. Its large flowers, up to 15-20 cm, are dark purple and cup-shaped. Its leaves are large, 13 cm, oval, first light green, becoming dark green by summer and turning yellow in autumn. Planting in a partially shaded spot, sheltered from the wind, is recommended. It requires well-drained, slightly acidic soil rich in nutrients. Its water needs are high. It does best planted as a specimen, next to the house or in the middle of a lawn, where its beauty will come to full expression.
